Rhonda Dunlevy Honored with Daisy Award

Outstanding members of the Ohio’s Hospice staff are recognized every quarter with the Bouquet of Recognition Awards for going above and beyond in advocating for and serving patients. RN Rhonda Dunlevy of Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton is the recipient of the most recent Daisy Award, presented to members of the nursing staff.

“I would like to let you know how my nurse rescues me at every visit we have together. I recognize that I am at the most vulnerable time in my life…the angel that rescues me with each visit is Rhonda Dunlevy. She is known to you as Care Manager, nurse, employee, but to me she is my angel disguised as a hospice nurse.” So begins the nomination recognizing Rhonda that was submitted by a hospice patient.

“Rhonda has eyes that see all the things that I may miss. Maybe if the phone was placed just so then I would not have to reach so far to answer. Why? Because I get so out of breath with every move I make. Rhonda notices those kinds of things…Rhonda is very honest with me when it comes to my health and its progression. I have noticed an increased weakness and lack of stamina. She explains to me the whys and the what to expect…Rhonda knows there is nothing wrong with my mind and I need to know what is coming next. I find that aspect respectful and I am treated as the adult I am. Rhonda takes her time with me. She is never too busy…The things that are important to me are a priority to Rhonda. I have no close family to speak for me. Rhonda truly understands me. She not only is my nurse but my voice, my advocate. I am aware of the Daisy Award program you have at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton. I can think of none other who personifies the consistent demonstration of excellence, professional and compassionate care than my angel, nurse Rhonda Dunlevy.”
