Adult Grief Support
Support Groups & Individual Counseling
Support groups offer a chance to meet with others to find support and understanding for the challenges of life after loss. Pathways of Hope is the grief support service provided by The Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties and The Hospice of Dayton to anyone who has lost a loved one. Professionally licensed counselors or social workers lead Pathways of Hope grief support groups. Pre-registration is not required. The following groups meet regularly unless the meeting day falls on a holiday.
The Hospice of Dayton
Drop-In Grief Support Groups are open to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one.
Monday Night Drop-In Grief Support
- Where: Pathways of Hope at Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton
- When: 7:30—8:30pm Every Monday except holidays
Walking through Grief widow and widower grief support groups are open to anyone in the community who is coping with the loss of a spouse. These groups meet as follows:
- Thursday Morning Walking Through Grief Group
- Where: Pathways of Hope at Hospice of Dayton
- When: First and Third Thursday, 9:00—10:00am
* Beginning March 4 it will meet from 10-11am
- Wednesday Night Walking Through Grief Group
- Where: Pathways of Hope at Hospice of Dayton
- When: First and Third Wednesday, 6:30—7:30pm
- Walking Through Grief Support Group
- Where: Christian Life Center, 3849 Little York Rd
- When: Second and Fourth Thursday mornings monthly, 10:00—11:00am
- Understanding the Grief Experience Grief Education Group
- Where: Colp Board Room, Hospice of Dayton
- When: Second Wednesdays Monthly, 7-8:30pm
Living With the Loss of an Adult Child is open to any parent who has experienced the death of an adult child.
- Where: Pathways of Hope at Hospice of Dayton
- When: Second and Fourth Wednesday, 6:45—7:45pm

- When: Fourth Tuesday Monthly, 7:00—8:30pm
This MONTHLY 90-minute educational program is designed to help the bereaved learn about grief as a normal reaction to loss. Appropriate for those who have already experienced a loss as well as those who are facing the loss of a loved one, this program provides helpful information about symptoms of grief and coping strategies that can promote healing. Participants learn about helpful educational resources and informational materials that may be readily available through libraries and other venues. General information about grief support groups is provided as well as specific information about grief support services offered through Pathways of Hope. Whether you are interested in learning more about the grief process or considering a support group or counseling, this program is a good starting point. Pre-registration is not required and, as with all Pathways of Hope services the program is free and open to the general public.
Participants learn about helpful educational resources and informational materials that are available to help with symptoms of grief. Information about grief support groups is also provided.
