Shining Star – Conger Earns Cameo of Caring Honors

Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties Team Manager Jessica Conger was honored as a Cameo of Caring recipient on October 15, 2011 at the Wright State University School of Nursing.   “Jessica shows her compassion and professionalism in every encounter she has with our patients and families,” her nomination notes.  “No matter how difficult or busy a day, Jessica always wears a smile and makes patients and families feel at ease.”

“As an example, we had a patient here on the unit who loved nature. We have an outdoor patio surrounded by flowers, and trees. The patient could look out his window and see the beauty outside, but a dying wish was to be with nature when he died. Jessica, by speaking with his family, discovered this wish.  She took it upon herself, with the help of staff members, to transport his bed outside on the patio near the garden. It was a beautiful, sunny day and with his family at his side, he took his last breath. This is only one instance where Jessica’s focus on making a patient or family’s experience here at our unit a lasting and loving memory.

Not only does Jessica go the extra mile for her patients, she extends her care and thoughtfulness to her fellow staff members and is an outstanding teacher and coach. Jessica is the one called upon to train new nurses. Her computer skills coupled with her strong clinical skills and ability to communicate effectively has made her an invaluable asset to Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties.

Jessica, with her enthusiasm, professionalism and warmth, has been instrumental in helping to create a refuge for patients and families, enabling them to share precious last days in peace and comfort.”
